We’re nearing the end of a great fall gala season here at Artisan Auctions and toward the end of each season, we love to recap and take a look to see what else we can do to help you be prepared for your next fundraising event, whether you’re looking to the spring season or thinking of doing a fill the gap campaign.


If your gala is virtual, hybrid, or in-person, one running theme we’ve seen this year is: What’s your backup plan?

What IS your backup plan for your event?


We want your events to be packed with all the great things that make people want to connect, give, and celebrate. Especially with Covid variants, vaccine access, and all the changes of the last two years, we now know that we’ve got some precedent to our unprecedented times. When we start thinking about your next event, I want you to expect the unexpected and think about what you're going to do if you suddenly can’t go with your original plan A.


And I totally understand that these events are a big chunk of your time while you’re trying to run an organization that has daily and minute-to-minute needs. Feeling like you need to double-plan can make throwing your gala feel potentially overwhelming.


But here’s the thing about having a Plan B - you can set it and forget it. Think about the backup plans and safety nets in your day-to-day life. Got a spare tire in your car? Yeah, you do. Do you think about your spare tire every day? Probably not.


If you think you don’t need a contingency plan for your event, think about what it would be like to take your spare tire out of your car and drive 100 miles without it. You are going to be very aware of every pothole, bump, weird scuff noise, and more.
